Construction of a two storey extension onto an existing 17th Century house on the banks of Loch Ken, Dumfries and Galloway.
The building is on a spectacular site with expansive views over the Loch. In this project, we were tasked with expanding the accommodation to serve our clients’ extended family on their frequent visits to the area, as well as forming a permanent home for them.
Early collaborative discussions dictated an addition would be the best approach, touching the existing building only lightly. The proposals echo the form and scale of the existing building, but the material is in contrast in dark Zinc, which recedes into the landscape when viewed from afar.
Baineach Architects successfully obtained Planning Consent for the proposals in March 2026.
