New Build Chalet, Gatehouse of Fleet
A private client sought a replacement chalet on an exclusive site near Gatehouse of Fleet. The new chalet was carefully sited to enjoy open aspects, particularly orientated with extensive glazing to maximise views over the coast. The site presented a significant drop in levels which presented some structural challenges, but also opportunities; the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner spills out onto a generous terrace that hovers over the treetops below. Despite a necessarily compact plan, there is a sense of generosity of space.
The careful detailing of several bespoke elements, together with a discerning client and excellent craftmanship from the Contractor, provided a delightful outcome for all involved.
Joanna was Project Architect, working on initial proposals under Simon Winstanley Architects; upon closure of the original practice she carried the project forward under her own practice from Tender Award to Contract Administration.
